De La Souled out Nokia Theatre in Times Square, New York City last night during the mid-way point of their Three Feet High and Rising 20th Anniversary Tour, dubbed 20 Years High and Rising. They were supported by uber-talented, 10 piece band Rhythm Roots All-Stars. Plenty of industry and friends were in the house including, Dres (Black Sheep), Prince Paul, and rapper-turned-photographer Jeru the Jamajah, who took photos on stage.
It didn’t seem like Posdnuos was feeling da inner sound when he said “Let’s just get this over with,” before launching into an ad-libbed version of Me, Myself and I, singing, “When it comes to being De La, I just really hate this song.” The crowd didn’t seem to notice his chagrin. After performing more seminal hits like Ring Ring Ring, De La discussed their love for pioneers Run DMC, before bringing out surprise guest DMC, during their encore, who performed King of Rock.
