Sake Bombs, Gangsta Rap, and the East Village

Support has been the name of the game through the growth of this group, but it’s their vision and observant nature of the music business that has pushed them this far.  “We understand what the musical climate is and that you have to do a lot on your own. We already came in with knowledge about what’s going to happen and what we need to be doing,” says Tiombe with a brash confidence. It seems to prove true, though the future can never be guaranteed; they seem to have a strong foothold. But where does that kind of wisdom come from?

In a moment of unadulterated precision, Nick explains the turn of events with this latest project, “we tried to revise all the things we failed on in our past bands. Even the little things, I think, matter, to keep this momentum going.” This sensibility and realism has helped propel the situation from start-up to start-now. “Now that we’re doing everything on our own we kind of get to keep it closer to home and really pay attention to the little things that become big things in the long run.”

There’s certainly a bright future for the talented group, but predicting or defining their music is defiant in the nature of the work itself. “I think the next step for us to show the diversity in our work… I think we’re a band that could play with, you know, Platinum Pied Pipers or The Mars Volta or, you know, we just have a various dynamic of sound.” And that, they do. Nick Catchdubs, DJ, friend and Co-Founder of Fool’s Gold Records remarks on the music; “the songs favor extended riffs and chants over easy pop answers and ‘cool’ sounds – it’s not really dance music, it’s not really rock music. It’s a jam band for a generation raised on DJ mixes…” With one single out and more releases on the way, we can only wait to see where it goes.

For now, the future is a day and/or a year away, “I know what we’re doing tomorrow. We’re trying to finish a remix for Kid Cudi tomorrow. Tomorrow.  And then after work to the sake bar at five.” Fuck work.
