Anjulie

There are a lot of musical gems coming out of Canada and Guyanese-Canadian singer-songwriter Anjulie is one of them. Her voice is dynamical yet May even be confused with Canadian songstress Nelly Furtado. Anjulie comes with a presence of neo-retro soul music with lyrics that are instantly able to paint pictures. ‘Addicted2Me’ has already graced television airwaves on MTV’s hit television show The City. And you May even find her hit single ‘Boom’ on BETJ as it has been consistent on the BETJ Soul Session countdown.

One can say that her debut album is like a melting pot of musical influences that often times seems impossible to digest. ‘The Heat’ is filled with bass kicks and Anjulie approaches the rhythm like a Hip Hop debonair. ‘Fatal Attraction’ is a twisted story of love gone wrong while ‘Day Will Soon Come’ is about what Anjulie is blossoming to become, a well endowed songstress that she dreams of. ‘-now I’m drowning in my dreams and I don’t know just where I’m going but they don’t know me yet (the day will soon come).’ Hopefully that day will come when Anjulie’s listeners are able to fully grasp who she is as an artist. And the grand introduction of her debut album will give them a taste of her visions and insight into the eclectic realm of musical influences that is undoubtedly bestowed upon each song.
