In an interview with Beatportal, DJ Sneak explains the story behind his first album in five years: the twenty-track, two-disc House of House as well as the reasons behind the Chicago house-music resurgence. A legend in house music himself, Sneak explained that his five year break was anything but, rather a chance for him to get “office work” done in regards to the Beatport label and work on low-key projects like mixed cd’s. On his break from making music:
“It’s like surfing, you wait for the right wave to come along and you ride it until it fizzles out. Then you wait until the next wave comes along.”
His new album is a whopping twenty tracks, most of them around seven or eight minutes long, and split across two separate discs. The album is in DJ Sneak style, covering all of the basic elements of house music while throwing in those of disco and Euro-house, inspiration taken from his time spinning abroad.
