Electro/Hipster/Insert cliche, restricting title here DJs such as uni-browed Boyz Noize and the masked duo known as The Bloody Beetroots have recently began dabbling in the world of hip-hop producing, something that would seem to make a lot of sense in terms of marketability. After all, electro is the cool thing to listen to right now, and it has already overlapped into the world of rap (i.e. Armand Van Helden and Dizzee Rascall, N.O.R.E. and MSTRKRFT, etc.). Both Boyz and Beetroots have released tracks to put this theory to the test for themselves: Boyz Noize’s official remix of “Boom Boom Pow” (Will I Am frequents at Dim Mak’s LA hot spot Cinespace and is a fan of Noize’s work) and BB’s “Awesome”, a song featuring the Cool Kids which samples the Beetroots’ own rager “Warp”, a sly attempt to literally integrate the sounds of both worlds they are attempting to frequent in. So do they make the cut?
