What is 14 tracks deep, features some of the most well known names in hip-hop and bangs harder than anything you’ve heard this year? The answer is Intermission, the new album by the world renowned Soul Assassins.
Lead by legendary DJ/producer, DJ Muggs (who’s produced for everyone from Everlast to Evidence), the Soul Assassins is made up of some of the West Coasts greatest MC’s and producers. Intermission features established crew members Alchemist, La Coka Nostra and Sick Jacken as well as well known affiliates like Bun B, RZA and M1 of Dead Prez.
Right out of the gate this compilation knocks the unsuspecting listener off of his or her feet. ‘Gangsta Sh*t’, which features the undeniably hard duo of Bun B and M1 comes correct with a beat laced with gun shots and deep bass. M1’s stinging delivery coupled with Bun Bido’s thundering voice ensures that this album begins on the right foot. The five man group of lyrical arsonists, La Coka Nostra throw darts on the track ‘Do It’, leaving longtime fans of the group foaming at the mouths for their upcoming LP, A Brand You Can Trust, which is slated to be released on Jul 14.
With each MC delivering his best wordplay over Muggs’ choice cuts, Intermission has very few dull moments,. The use of samples and carefully chosen drum arrangements accommodates each lyricist to feel at home on their allotted track. Intermission is a must buy for fans of raw lyrics and beats. Point blank. Period.
