Claude Von Stroke
Fabric 46
When one hears the name Claude Von Stroke, they usually think big, loopy, modulated basslines, layered with poppy synth bleeps and blips. And Fabric 46 does not disappoint. Fabric 46 is an eclectic blend of electronic music, from house to drum ‘n’ bass, ghettotech to progressive. Essentially, Von Stroke includes something for everyone, keeping the mix fresh and unpredictable.
Von Stroke maintains a balanced energy level, keeping the melodies ever-shifting and basslines ever-thumping. From the mosquito-buzzing-around-your-ear synth on ‘Big Onion (Joakim Slap On It Remix)/Galaxius’ to the tribal drum loops on ‘Free Entry For Girls’, Von Stroke’s track selection and mixing keep the energy at a constant pulse, somewhere near ‘freakout’. From the heavier ghettotech tracks to the softer, more ambient grooves, for the entire 69 minutes, my head never stopped bobbing.
That being said, just like many studio DJ mixes, Fabric 46 eventually becomes a bit monotonous. To reiterate, Von Stroke keeps the energy at an impressive high, but it’s just too difficult to emulate the excitement of a live performance in the studio. Big props to the Dirtybird man for throwing down hard for Fabric. He brings the heat to the fullest extent and further reinforces his reputation as a big-bass DJ.
