Inspiration Information Vol. 3 is a beautiful collection of some of the most innovative organic compositions you will ever hear. This project pairs one of Africa’s greatest and most creative bandleaders, Mulatu Astatke and the mighty musical collective known as the Heliocentrics from Stones Throw/ Now Again. This album does a fantastic job of bringing out the best of both of their natural personalities. Over the 14 tracks on this disc, listeners will be treated to a canvas of sound with splashes of jazz, dashes of funk, touches of folk melodies, and enough groves to either put you in a trance or knock you out of one. As it stands, these compositions are layered with so many rich nuances, variations and impressions that you can’t help but be instantly engaged. Tracks such as “An Epic Story” and “Fire in the Zoo” will put you into a dream state that you won’t want to wake up from anytime soon.
