Nu Made
JDub has put out what every Balkan Beat Box fan wants, Nu Made, a collection of various BBB songs that are remixed and reworked by various artists.
It is quite what you would expect, Bollywood for music in a way. But with break beats. Weird? Well, not entirely. The remixes, even by BBB, flow so well that it’s as good as any other dance/hop music. “Digital Monkey,” remixed by Soulico, has a great beat with fun and quite interesting lyrics, with a reggae flare. “Habibi Min Zaman” does a great of remixing a song into a somewhat contemporary electro-style song, done by Mr. Tunes.
There are various remixes similar to these, and others remixed by BBB themselves, which must have been fun to give their own songs a little twist and flavor them up some more. Not being a huge BBB fan, this record went a little over my head: but I can definitely see where it’d be entertaining, fulfilling, and enjoyable, which, for the most part, it certainly is.
