When Steve Cooper, aka The Gray Kid, told me about “Free Music!” a few months ago, he said that it was kinda like Free Mumia!…only with MP3s. Cooper has put his whole catalog, everything he’s ever recorded, up on his website, and it’s all available gratis. And he’s celebrating the fire sale, which is kind of more like a looting binge, by releasing a brand new EP. Mixed by Beck collaborator Danny Kalb, it’s six songs of bananas that are just plain plantains.
