Growing up in Detroit in the ’80s, it was nearly impossible to miss The New Dance Show, the locally produed answer to Soul Train that had as much influence on a generation of electronic producers as Derrick May, Jua Atkins an Jeff Mills combined. This video for his new Spectral Sound release, “The Count,” sounds whole inspired by the stark minimalism of late ’80s Detroit techno and is named after the dancer you can see in the second clip.
