Capone and Noreaga
Channel 10
The wait is finally up, and it was worth it. After several incarcerations and other reasons that Capone and Noreaga could not work together for years, they recently have met up in the studio and put out a hip-hop album as raw as they get, Channel 10. Recruiting artists such as DJ Premier, Alchemist, Clipse, Busta, and Mobb Deep, you can get a sense of how the hip-hop community supports this group and this album. And they do not disappoint.
“Rotate” has the likes of Busta Rhymes and Ron Browz, gracing the mic with a flow that even for Busta is somewhat surprising. “Follow the Dollar” is The Alchemist track, that seems to be symbiotic in nature…both C-N-N and The Alchemist thoroughly grateful that they are working with each other. Of course Mobb Deep brings the heat on “Wobble,” and Premier’s scratches on Channel 10 still proves he is the best at his craft…but the most stand out thing about Channel 10 is that with all the guests, all the hype, all the amazing production, from piano drive ballad-hops to in your face scratch attack battle-hops, Capone and Noreaga do not let anyone outshine them. Their lyricism and raw talent rings throughout the whole entire album, only letting the other components boost their own game, not drown them out of their own album, which sometimes can happen on a comeback record.
The only bad thing about this hip-hop gold, is that unfortunately for me, my copy was a promotional one that did not feature the songs in their entirety. However each minute of each song was two more minutes I was dying to get my hands on. C-N-N came back strong with Channel 10, and proved that they are still playing the hip-hop game as well as anyone else, and (hopefully) won’t back down.
