MTV has reported that Lil Wayne’s rock album, Rebirth, has had it’s release date changed from May 19th to TBD according to Hip-Hop DX. This despite the heavy push given to first single “Prom Queen,” including a live web-performance for AT&T. Fact is, for all the momentary buzz for this oddity, I don’t think anyone really wants a Lil Wayne rock album. It reeks of indulgence and opportunism. Unless Rick Rubin in behind the project, rock and rap should stay friends, but not with benefits.
