Apple Corps Ltd., Harmonix and MTV Games unveiled today their plans for a Beatles edition of the video game craze Rock Band, marking the first time the Beatles’ tracks will be available in the digital realm. Available on Xbox 360, Playstation 3 and Nintendo Wii, “The Beatles: Rock Band” will showcase the Liverpool foursome’s classic tracks. The game can be played with all of the previous peripheral intsruments, however a limited edition premium bundle including replicas of McCartney’s bass, Lennon and Harrison’s guitars, and Starr’s drum kit will be avilable for $249.99. A rather optimistic Paul McCartney shared his thoughts on the game, saying “it will feature different periods of the band — you get early days, Liverpool, then psychedelic, and on from there. It’s very cool. And I like the idea that the game introduces kids to music, you know?” The game is scheduled for release on Sep 9th, 2009, and will retail for $59.99.
