Everyone favorite internet music meme from Apr-Jul 2008 has returned. Muxtape got users and bloggers excited about it’s simple interface and ability to upload MP3s and send these “mixes” to you friends. Only problem was, someone at the RIAA noticed it was a really obviousl and easy way to send illegal MP3s to your friends. The site was shut down last fall, but is back as a platform where anyone can make a mix, but only using songs uploaded by registered bands (ie- people who own the rights to upload their own music).

Muxtape hopes it’s clean design and simplicity will still succeed much larger services with similar playlist functionality (Imeem, MySpace Music).
