According to Billboard, reclusive R&B stawlwart D’Angelo is currently working on a new LP entitled James River, which is tentatively due out this summer and set to include a collaboration with Prince. Cee-Lo, Raphael Saadiq, Mark Ronson, and Roy Hargrove are also lined up to help along the singer on his comeback trail.
D’Angelo has also made plans to tour for the first time in this half of the decade, booking summer dates in Europe and the United States presumably to support the release of James River. Specific dates and venues should be soon to follow.
And according to manager Lindsay Guion, ‘he looks great, by the way,’ allaying many ladies fears of seeing a flabby D’Angelo struggling to catch his breath during a ‘Brown Sugar’ encore. So there you have it: this summer, it will no longer be safe for any average man to sag his jeans frontward.
