On Jan 27 RZA will release the second sountrack to Afro Samurai. The Wu Tang front man speaks about his newest venture and the team that helped him along the way. RZA said about the Afro Samura project, ‘I didn’t know it was going to be as big as it is, when I met the team of people that was working on Afro Samurai, I had a reall good feeling about it. Thats why I joined the team.’
Hardly holding back his excitement about the project RZA also said, ‘Its real fun for me to go out there and break bread with real artists that I respect. Also, to have that creative freedom. One thing they gave me on Afro Samurai which I demanded and it costs us money to be this way, is creative control. They gave it to us. Its one of the funnest projects, I’ve been involved with in years.’
RZA also spoke of the opportunity that this project has to expose new listeners to hip hop. He sites a story when he was with Ghost Dog Director Jim Jarmusch in France, and how a fifty year old lady who was a huge fan of Jarmusch was intrigued by the soundtrack and wanted to learn more about the artists.
