Ninja Tuna

Tigers, Sharks, and even Grizzly Bears are all tame compared to the fiercest creature in the animal kingdom: The Ninja Tuna. While the aforementioned animals may be able to hold their own in clash to prove territorial dominance, the Ninja Tune wins every time when it comes to a musical confrontation. The most notorious of this species, Andy Carthy better known as Mr. Scruff, demonstrates his talents as a musical assassin as he cuts through everything from hip-hop and jazz to more dance-hall oriented riddims to create a collection of 13 songs that become more engaging and interesting with each and every listen. From the drum and bass heavy ‘Bang the floor’ (featuring Danny Breaks) to the soulful ‘Music Takes Me Up’ (featuring Alice Russell), Scruff not only successfully tackles a diverse assortment of genres but arranges them on the album in such a way that the transition from one track to the next feels as naturally exciting as if he were dropping the next record during one of his live sets. This Ninja Tuna takes lush instrumentation of the genres of music that he enjoys the most and creates an incredibly carefree and enjoyable dance album.
