Here’s a lil’ video of Kobe talking — at times in Italian, cuz’ he was actually partially raised overseas — with kids at Westchester High School in L.A., about the kind of pounding he takes on the floor every game, his effort to debunk the myth of the hi-top as the de rigeur on-court shoe, and his co-design of a lo-top that retains Nike’s “Y-Fly” tech with full ankle support, to restore the “natural range” of the ankle. “Every time I’ve sprained my ankle, I’ve been in a hi-top” he fesses, also admitting that he loves soccer. And of course, he unveils the new Zoom line, including his elegant tri-color home-game shoe, which incorporates Laker purple but, thankfully, omits that garish Laker gold, making them cool for those of us outside the city of Angels…and yes, he does claim that this shoe “will make you jump higher and run faster…
