Decon, in conjunction with URB and Okayplayer, presented “Never Not Fresh” at CMJ week with the launch of Decon’s new creative agency. The multimedia event at Sullivan Hall was packed with fresh kicks and hip hop heads on hand for performances by Evidence, Aceyalone, 88-Keys, Izza Kizza, DJ Jaceeoh and DJ Babu. Heads were espcecially spaced out during Izza Kizza’s crazy performance in which he rocked a fog-filled stage in his spacesuit and wilded out with his “Thriller”-like dance steps. There is much more to anticipate from this innovative and eccentric artist, just as much as 88-Keys’ new album.
88-Keys gave us a preview of his new, Kanye West-executive produced album, The Death of Adam. A hilariously interactive performance had the room participating in the saga of 88-Keys’ boy, Adam, whose story teaches the lessons of life and the vagina. We’re guessing this album will be juicy, raw, and full of personality.
Congratulations to Decon for being such creatively edumacating agents in the hip hop game. With a roster of award-winning artists, fresh tours, and innovative mixes that dilate our pupils, Decon will keep our heads nodding for some time to come.
