On Oct 3, Myspace presented the Release powered by AT&T at the Key Club in Hollywood, California, to celebrate the release of T.I.’s latest project, Paper Trail. Backed by DJ Drama (aka Barack O’Drama), the Atlanta native served up a heavy dose of southern hospitality in the course of his hour plus set.
Wearing his stunner shades to start his set, the King T.I. had the audience in the palm of his hand with his highly energetic and animated performance. Prior to jumping into, “What Up, What’s Happening”, T.I. proclaimed, “The greatest shit I do you can’t undo.” Despite, or maybe even because of, his success, T.I. consistently has to deal with negativity from those trying to bring him down. When someone has as much confidence as T.I., their resilience to this negativity serves as an example for others to follow. In the midst of performing hits such as “ Da Dopeman” and “Rubber Band Man”, T.I. stressed to the audience that the man they saw before him wasn’t a fabrication: “A lot of people think I ain’t real. I don’t laugh if it ain’t funny; I don’t dance if there’s no music, You can bet your rent money on this. The King is going to stand on his two mother fucking feet and if you don’t know this, then you don’t know me.” Later in the show, T.I. kicked a verse over Lupe’s “Superstar” to drive this point home even further: “I am still the hottest. Don’t get it fucked up because I can make hit records.”
In the course of making all of these hit records, T.I. has earned his share of accolades. Adding to that list, Myspace presented T.I. with a plaque for going Myspace double platinum, which means that he has over 2 million friends; he also has over 100,000,000 plays, and 13,000,000 plays for one song (“Whatever You Like”) in a single
