Seminal indie hip-hop group Jurassic 5 will celebrate the 11th anniversary of its self-titled debut album with a loaded reissue featuring the original album, 15 unreleased tracks, and the first ever J5 DVD. Dubbed J5: 11th Anniversary Re-issue, the definitive collection of sounds from the early Jurassic period hits stores quite cleverly on Nov 11 (11/11). The DVD, directed by Decon’s Jason Goldwatch and predictably and appropriately titled “The Jurassic Period,” is described as “an experimental, music driven time piece… utilizing analog effects and heavy layering of images and sound beds” while somehow fitting into the documentary genre. The film also includes half an hour’s worth of performance footage from Brixton Academy and the music video for “Concrete Schoolyard,” just in case your cravings for J5 aren’t already satiated by the copious amount of media that is already included in the set.
