Getting Charles Hamilton out of the studio ain’t easy, but he took some time to discuss how he never leaves the studio, his concept of God, his first battle, the under-represented female in Hip-Hop slash society in general, what high school life was like for him as a kid with a hip, intellectual bent, the artists and “elements of life” that helped him through adolescence, rebelling in parochial school, and his interactions with fans online. Walking along the pier at The Frying Pan, the tight cables on either side, the measured turbulence of the water below and the expanse of the river which leads out to see all felt like apt visual metaphors for the line a young 20 year-old budding Rap Star and label boss has to walk.
