LA OLD SKOOL x Delicious Vinyl

LA OLD SKOOL x Delicious Vinyl

Tuesday night, Delicious Vinyl dug deep into its video archives and showcased early hip hop in Los Angeles at the Silent Movie Theatre off Fairfax. Hip hop enthusiasts gathered with beer and popcorn to feast their eyes on rare footage of Ramellzee and graffitti artist Jean Michel Basquiat.

Soul Brother “Legendary” revealed highlights from his upcoming documentary “The Sons of James Brown”. Those featured in the documentary were Uncle Jam’s Army, Jam City, Ultra Wave and members of the Pharcyde.

Then the Delicious Vinyl family showed home movies and music videos of their own artists from the 80’s. Artists featured were Tone Loc, Young MC, Def Jef and Body and Soul. There was a live performance by The Soul Brothers and DJ sets by KDay and M-Walk.

For some, this night was a walk down memory lane and for others (who were born in the 80’s) it was a history crash course at The University of Hip Hop!
