As a DJ and record reviewer, in my experience there are few tracks that truly stand out throughout the year. Either they’re not all that memorable; or every DJ worth their salt has already hammered it into your brain wherever you go. The amount of truly timeless tracks released each year can probably be counted in the few dozen.
While Christian Smith’s new single on Bedrock won’t win any awards for being groundbreaking, “Flyer Talk” is certainly the kind of reliable track that DJs will find themselves going back to time and time again. Straddling the fence between peak time techno and trance, the lead tune boasts very clean production, sublime mastering and programming, and a deep, throbbing bassline – all setting the stage for a building melody. Definitely a hit.
