Almost every Wednesday is known as RELOADED WEDNESDAY’s at the Turf Club in St. Paul. Sean McPherson aka Twinkie from Heiruspecs is the main man behind the weekly and along side him is resident DJ Anton. Twinkie always has an amazing line-up that doesn’t focus on one type of music genre but on a wide variety from Folk to Rap to Rock to Jazz it’s always a surprise.
Big Quarters teamed up with Mux Mool to create the Falling in Love EP, which you can download for free here. This past Wednesday the two were guests of Reloaded Wednesday’s and had a party for the EP which also turned into a going away party for Mux Mool who’s on his way to Bushwick, Brooklyn, NY. The energy in the Turf was very chill despite the chaos that was going on just a few miles away at the RNC.
The evening started out with DJ Anton cutting up some classic funk and hip-hop and then Mux Mool took to the stage. Mool sat at a table with a keyboard and his computer on the side of the stage, the crowd became quite and then the beat dropped. Mux Mool is truly talented when it comes to making beats he has an eclectic sound, bending different genres together like hip-hop with electro. Next to the stage was the duo Big Quarters, who are also brothers, Brandon Allday and Medium Zach. As always they were amazing, I don’t think I’ve ever seen these guys off point! Performing tracks off the EP and then they invited Alicia Steele to the stage to sing her track that she has on the album. Alicia mentioned earlier in the night that she’s not a singer but she pretends to be one sometimes. Mux Mool hit the stage once again, after his set Big Quarters had everyone in the Turf Club some take a ‘class’ photo, you know the kind you took in third grade. They ended the night with some bangers!
