So I hear Daddy Yankee just endorsed McCain as a candidate—- AND—- McCain presents Daddy Yankee as his special guest at a downtown Phoenix high school. Apparently McCain was a bit ecstatic about this endorsement— but does he really know the type of fuel Gasolina! (that means gas in spanish) really is to Daddy Yankee? It’s the kind of stuff that attracts women and sex. Hopefully filling up McCain’s tank with this Gasolina! won’t cause another sexual political scandal.
‘IMPACTO’ means Impact in Spanish. Here is a stanza of Daddy Yankee’s hit with Fergie, “Impacto”:
Ensena todo lo que tienes(Show all you got)
No improvisa lo que ella tiene (She doesn’t improvise what she has)
Este toque es quien lo detiene (This touch is what holds it)
Aunque nos tire la ley (even if the law disposes of us)
A little too much hype with this Latin superstar, and the law might just dispose of this Republican candidate. On the brighter side, this is probably the first exposure of many Latino voters to the ideas McCain is pushing for. Could it be that Daddy Yankee’s idea of making and IMPACTo is as far-fetched as McCain’s idea of positive change?
or were we unaware of the fact that we might soon be taken into the “Gangsta Zone” that Daddy Yankee describes:
“I’m the man with the gun in his hand, I don’t plan; I’m stayin around, I’m playin around”
Whethere McCain is stayin around is the big question. A few more months of this will tell what “the people’ want.
What’s also funny is the fact that Daddy Yankee can’t even vote for McCain in the election, because he is a citizen of Puerto Rico, not of the United States!
