 Day 1 @ MAGIC

Let me start off by saying that it’s fucking hot in Vegas. Who the hell comes here during summer FOR FUN??!! I drove up here with the Dub Frequency boys, and umm, it’s a long drive from LA. I am not capable of sitting still for such long periods of time unless the destination is a breezy vacation spot in a foreign country. Along the way, I saw a white cloud for the first time (they’re usually covered by pollution in LA) and ants the size of cockroaches. Okay, not that big… but they were really really huge and they were at a gas station that reminded me of The Hills Have Eyes.

So, back to MAGIC, after spending my first hour running back and forth obtaining badges for everyone (everyone= the dub frequency boys), I met up with URB’s East Coast Rep, Nathalie Ramirez. For the most part, our day was spent at SLATE, aka home to the “better’” streetwear brands (with a few exceptions here and there). Starting off at the Staple booth, we hit up everyone from Freshjive to Hot Air to GRN Apple Tree. Sounds easy but this place is huge and just when you think you’ve hit up everyone, you realize there’s that one other person you promised you’d stop and say hi to. Proof? It took us 6 hours to cover SLATE, grab a quick lunch (food at the show sucks!), and a trip to the central hall of the Las Vegas convention center to visit Kangol.
All in all, it was a hectic yet productive day. As fun as it May seem, the Vegas tradeshows suck every single bit of energy out of you and I can guarantee you that ANYONE you come across will say the same thing. At the end of the day though, all these amazing brands and buyers do it for YOU, the consumer.

There are currently 345987 party options tonight and a mandatory early appearance at PROJECT tradeshow tomorrow morning. Stay posted as I blog about my Las Vegas tradeshow experience. :)

Check out the photos from the day (sorry, photobucket cut some of them off):
