Just a quick throw-up here, edits are raw and rough… Day 1 of All Points West was blessed with a late afternoon show by Underworld whose tapered sounds and deep groove imbued the encroaching dusk with a heightened, almost hyper-real poeticism…Girl Talk, who was two stages away, hushed his audience and told them to just listen. “Underworld were my Radiohead” is how one photographer in the pit described what the show was like for her…the 90’s sure were fun, tho’ so is NOW, as this band proves with not much more than a laptop full of sound files, a fabulous short and some happy feet. Thanks brothers, we all needed that. Fans of Underworld in New York City should checkout their Beautiful Burn Out Art Jam which is up for a couple of weeks at the Jacobson-Howard Gallery, 33 East 68t St. www.underworldlive.com/artjam
