The night time posed for much more fun. We had super-acts ahead of us; Mos Def, Nas, Tribe, Doom(poster), etc. And to catch you up to speed, now we were allowed in the pit! But sadly, the eleven dollar beers meant that we were not drunk. But it was ok! It was time to get intoxicated off hip-hop.

Even though he is one of my favorite artists, I surprisingly don’t have a lot to say about Mos’ performance. Granted, I didn’t stay for all of it, but for what I was present for, Mos Def was more relaxed. Kind of a wind-down for the crowd before the big acts. It was still dope; but sadly I had to part ways with Mos to catch Doom…or what I thought would be Doom.

Here is a short sighting of Doom, but the technical shit storm prevented him from going on. To read more about that, check out Andrew’s blog. Dissapointed…very dissapointed.

(Crowd on fire)

I’m not sure what to say about Nas that hasn’t already been said. He played a crazy mix, everything from Illmatic to his new self-titled; spittin’ verses out every which way, switching back and forth between songs, pumping up the crowd, and of course, saying “fuck you” to Bill the papa bear O’Reily. He closed out on “One Mic,” with all the anger and passion he had in his veins. Awesome performance.
Check out Part 3 for A Tribe Called Quest in all their glory.
