Might as well face it. By all reasonable expectations, the best records of 2008 are behind us. Where once back-to-school shoppers made a compelling audience to hock CDs too, the increased influence of SXSW and the need to make an impact in order to achieve coveted summer festival bookings means that the industry likes to front load the year with quality releases, leaving Q3 and 4 to megastar releases to sustain it through the holidays.
