It’s hard to believe that it’s been 20 years since we all grooved to L’Trimm’s “Cars With The Boom“ – but there it is. The sassy Miami teen queens shot out of nowhere in 1988, almost like the kinder, gentler sisters to Salt ‘N Pepa, giving anyone with a mega-sub woofer in their trunk a reason to piss off the neighbors.
There’s no shame in being a one-hit wonder, especially when what ya dropped still gives people an ear to ear grin – not to mention having influenced contemporary peeps like Kid Sister, Uffie, M.I.A., Fannypack or Avenue D. (except with lost more cuss words, ‘natch).

With a bunch of different colors on her musical palette, it’s not a stretch to say you might hear shades of Robyn, Santogold, and M.I.A. in the album’s mix. But I picked the lead-off track (which wouldn’t sound out of place in an Austin Powers flick), and the sexxxy “Switchblade Kitty”. Check it, sucka.
