Dominique
Leone
Don’t be fooled by the q-u-e, Dominique is all man. As the first artist on Stromland Records, he is bringing a take home plate to the music industry barbeque. The opening sounds like Blaxploitation funk in hyper speed transitioning traditional to grungy rock before eavesdropping in on random conversation reminiscent to ‘The Sims’ and other things to make this sentence longer than it has to be. Dominique’s music, just like the name, has much more behind it. The producer/songwriter will give straight out lyric and chorus songs like ‘Goodbye’ and ‘Left, the Other Left,’ then come with something similar to a lullaby played in reverse turned into a dance track like ‘Nous Tombons Dans Elle.’ If pop music was the mission, then the shuttle defiantly took a wrong turn into a black hole and came out a distorted, experimental, ‘opp’. Does he pull it off? Well, if you’ve walked into your local Urban Outfitters clothing store and paused to say, ‘What the hell are they playing in here? I like it,’ then yes.
