Kurt Cobain’s ability to make headlines long after suicide ended his brief music career never ceases to amaze. The latest in the story of his odd legacy is word that his ashes were recently stolen from the home of Courtney Love.
Depending on which story you read the ashes (and a lock of his hair) were kept in either a pink teddy bear-shaped bag or a heart-shaped handbag she kept hidden in her wardrobe. Love is apparently distraught over this latest tragedy, but she always seems to be distraught (or strung out) over one thing or another, so that might not really qualify as news.
For those who might be worried about Cobain not getting his peaceful rest, have no worries. Love’s bag only held a small portion of his remains. The majority of the ashes were scattered in a New York Buddhist temple and in the Wishkah River near his boyhood home in Washington.
