Touchscreen turntable the next level?

touchtables Touchscreen turntable the next level?

Meet Scott Hobbs, a student at Dundee University studying innovative product design. For his last project, the dude decided to create a type of touch screen turntable that lets DJs loop, sample and scratch wave forms that are visible on the screen, the same was as scratching a record. Dubbed the ATTIGO TT, the size of the tables are pretty similar to a standard turntable, so physical interaction would be pretty similar. Flexibility and features are right on the screens also, which could mean no more lap tops mounted nearby. If his name was Tony, his nickname could be DJ Tony Touch-Screen. Obviously, it’s still at the prototype stages, but Hobbs is looking to make some major dough with this by looking for some manufacturers to partner with.

Some may call it cheating, some may call it innovative, but what does this mean to the ol’ vinyls and turntables? Will technology eventually overtake vinyls? Is technology really destroying the art of DJing? Only time will tell.
