Violet started off sewing her own outfits while working as a nanny/pa in the TV/film industry. Soon, people (who just happened to be actors) began noticing her designs and started ordering custom pieces from her. Like any smart woman, she decided to take advantage of the opportunity and turned it into a business. Oct 2005 brought upon Violet Valen’s first fashion show in LA, with model Julia Beynon walking the show and J.Rocc of Beat Junkies DJing the event.
Two years later, she returned with a holiday party co-hosted by Stones Throw Records and Fader magazine. The party showcased models wearing the dresses that incorporate Buddy. Since then, she’s been working hard to promote the line and creating new pieces. Everything you see from Violent Valen is created by hand and is different from the next. With a Buddy piece, you’re guaranteed to get an original.
