Call Korean Air, buy a ticket, and pack your bags. The event to be at this month (other than URB’s ?uestlove party of course) is in Suwon, South Korea, in which sixteen international b-boy crews will convene for the second annual R-16 Urban Arts & World B-Boy Championships. It doesn’t stop with b-boying though, afterall, this is a celebration of Hip-Hop around the world…
The event, being hosted by the Korea Tourism Organization, Gyeonggi Providence and Cartel Creative Inc., will cover 2 days worth of Hip Hop culture. Sixteen crews from around the world will compete for over $50,000 in prize money, and more importantly, international bragging rights. Feels damn good to be the best doesn’t it?
In addition to the b-boy tournament, 18 members of The Seventh Letter (a world renowned graffiti collective) will be doing what they do best on a 160 foot outdoor wall. Documenting the work will be photographers, Jamel Shabazz and Joe Conzo. If this wasn’t enough for you, on the outside stage of the Suwon Complex Stadium will be local and international b-boys/b-girls, poppers and lockers, all collaborating, competing, and contributing to the event.
If you can’t make it out to Korea, check back for photos from URB’s very own Founder/Publisher, Raymond Roker… that’s right, URB is takin’ it world wide.
