Plastic Crimewave, Ariel Pink and Jimi Hey provided a live score to expressionist horror film The Man Who Laughs (1928) and possibly the first science fiction film A Trip to the Moon (1902)….
Here are the last 29 minutes of music. The audience laughs and cheers when the blind girl’s dog bites the bad guy in the neck. The happy audience was a mixture of film a-ha coffeebook lovers and the type of folks who see the world as a cartoon. Crowd noises, laughing, whispers, cracking beer cans, seat wiggling and occasional cough, adds a little popcorn to the butter soup soundscape. Play it all the time.
