Boys Noize
Oi Oi Oi Remixed
So what if Boys Noize isn’t known for its grammatically correct moniker choices? The important thing is that the beat-churning entity is known for-well-churning out beats. Perhaps the best thing about Boys Noize is the utter ‘grime’ in their music. The remixes here, fortunately, do not clean things up. Actually, they seem to dirty up the sound a bit more–doing a great job of becoming entirely new songs. Recruiting such masterminds as Feadz, Apparat and A-Trak, it’s pretty apparent that Alexander Ridha (Mr. Boys Noize himself) knows who to turn to when seeking new tricks for an old dog. The hard-hitting ‘& Down’ is now a pitch-playful mix: a bit less harsh and just as danceable. On the other hand, joints such as ‘Lava Lava (Feadz Aval Aval Mix)’ have become more aggressive. On the aforementioned track, a paced tune with just-fast-enough kicks and electro-growls has become a violent, trembly mix. Oi Oi Oi Remixed gives new life to a handful of Boys Noize tracks while giving bits and pieces of their original sound and feel. If shaking all the things that momma said not to shake (or in some cases, impersonating epileptic seizures) is what’s hot nowadays, then OOOR will, by default, be something to delight in.
