Swiss scientist Albert Hofman, the man who discovered LSD, passed away on Tuesday at the age of 102. In his home in Basel, Switzerland, he suffered a heart attack- the cause of his death. First discovering the substance, lysergic acid diethylamide-25, in 1938, Hofman’s true intention was to have the substance used by people as medicine. Perhaps the most intriguing aspect of the story is that Hofman was known to take the drug (in the name of science, mind you) for several decades. So, is the potent creation a key to a longer life? We don’t wanna say yes, but it does makes you wonder if there are any D.A.R.E. members who have lived for just as long.
Don’t go thinking this is an open call to do some of the stuff either. In the words of Albert Hofman himself: “LSD can help open your eyes, but there are other ways – meditation, dance, music, fasting.” You know where to come for the music *giant, advertising grin.*
