Justus Kohncke
Safe And Sound
Providing texturized layers in abundance, Justus Kohncke allows the absence of large amounts of vocals to take over and fill the ambiance. His third full length album for Kompakt gives us the collapse and reconstruction of his drum machine beats and perplexing danceable creations. Being dubbed as a vendor of the neo disco movement, Kohncke gives us a slow starting point with the opening track, “Yahct” and then does what he does best, propel these dark flavors at us without forewarning. Covering a track by Micheal Rother, other wise known as having recorded with Kraftwerk, “Feuerland” is shoved into the album in a delicate manner as to not ruin the precision like floor plan. Safe and Sound is a sure way to go when “$26″ has you feeling as if you’re being electrocuted, dry cleaned, and steamed with a blazing iron at the end of an incomprehensible modern disco night.
