Open Call to Artists from Diesel!

So us being the left-leaning, independent-minded bohos that we try to be, we’re usually skeptical when corporations invade the underground and try to co-op creativity. But every once in a while, a project’ll come along that’ll actually enhance the creative spirit that we like to get behind. Enter the Diesel Wall.

Here’s the gist: Diesel, the clothing company your hot European friend probably swears by, is looking for submissions to throw art on blank walls in New York, Zurich, Manchester and Barcelona. Go to the site. Get the specs for the wall. Submit your entry and wait nervously. Over the next few months (deadlines vary with each city), Diesel’s jury panel, which includes Peter Saville (AKA guy who designed those cool Factory Records covers back in the day), will pick a winner for each of the four cities and display their project on the city’s respective giant wall.

Anyone in the world can enter. We’ve studied the site looking for some nefarious fine print and damn if it didn’t just look lilke a great opportunity for some artists to get more shine. If you read about for the first time here and win though, we want 10%. Good luck!
