Kazell hits the road with Sasha and John Digweed :: PHILADELPHIA ::

Woke up this morning after a sleep of epic proportions, due to the preparations for the tour and general excitement I hadn’t slept too much in the past few days. I headed into the main cabin on the bus where John, Sasha and Patrick (our Tour Manager) were watching the UEFA cup on the Satellite. After being greeted with “Its Alive” and various other comments related to my 12 hour kip I settled down for the 5 hour drive to Philadelphia. Even Though I’ve known the guys for years Its pretty exhilarating kicking it on the bus with two of the worlds greatest DJ’s.

Being a fan of “The Roots” and curious about Cheese steaks) I was really looking forward to the Philly gig as I’ve never visited the city before, I have to say the small part I saw of it lived up to its hype. The gig was at the Fillmore a classic rock venue with a large main room and all the usual furnishings. I opened up with more of a tech house vibe tonight playing a couple of classic Materik tracks, I was really happy with the set and think it set up Sasha’s opening grooves very well. Sasha started off with some tougher minimal tracks working up to some more bouncy tackle later on. John was amazing tonight, he took over from Sasha and built his fluid techy grooves into a massive crescendo over the next hour. The guys traveling with us from Montreal are doing some amazing visuals on their 50 Ft LED Screens and people are really blown away by their work. They keep the club dark, building up the effects as the night progresses, it adds a great deal to the overall vibe. The venue was packed to the rafters again with over a thousand people it was nice to see Josh Wink and the Ovum crew out enjoying the music too. After the gig Sasha drove to New York with journalist Neil Fine to spend some time with his family and arranged to meet us the following night.
