Kazell hits the road with Sasha and John Digweed :: NEW YORK ::Needless to say excitement was running high on the bus today as we pulled into NYC and parked outside Webster Hall. It had been a harrowing drive once we got into the city proper, with Blake our driver trying to navigate the bus through New York’s many one way streets and road works that the GPS couldn’t possibly pick up. I personally hadn’t been to the venue before and couldn’t wait to take a look inside, its massive, 5 floors and its freshly retuned Steve Dash system sounded amazing. Tonight I played my favorite set so far, I had 3 and a half hours to do the business and got a great reaction from the crowd. John kicked off the proceedings with a sick dirty upbeat house set working in the classic Beanfield track amongst others. Sasha then took over with some dark bleepy grooves and the pair played until almost 7am to a ravenous New York crowd of probably 3000 people. Webster Hall was a sweatbox inside but that was a small issue that didn’t deter the masses from giving it all they had for Sasha and Digweed. The Champagne and bottles of Grey Goose were disappearing quickly tonight and all the crew were pretty toasty by then end. John wrapped up the night with the Soulwax remix of The Rolling Stones, everyone had too much fun and we’re all still buzzing about the gig this morning as we head to DC.
