Eric Jordan teams up with URB and shows his illustrations of Lil Wayne, Obama, Kanye and more in our gallery. Here is what inspires him and his work.
I became interested in art at a young age. I would say about 5 is when I started drawing. My father used to draw superheroes for me often, I think that May be where the inspiration came for me to do it myself. The crazy part is that my father wasn’t an artist but I loved the product he came up with. Since then art was always amazing to me. And at this point I try to make my pieces amazing to the audience. Another inspiration I would say is music. I feel that success is universal and can be achieved through any medium or avenue. While listening to music I see that all the artists I listen to have hit a certain level of success through their art form and it fuels me to do the same. I found my style while in school trying to bring something new and different to my senior thesis. At the time I was painting in oil. I also have been a Mac fan since I was young as well, probably when the internet came out. So I was always practicing my photoshop skills on my computer. I came up with the drawing of 50 Cent for the first installment of the four part project. But I did it with no sketch or real idea for the entire piece. I scanned it and placed it Photoshop, then Corel Painter then back to Photoshop and all of the sudden had a constant, distinguishable process and style that emerged in effort to create a great result for me thesis. Thus giving me the foundation for my portfolio www.ejordanill.com
