We made it through the traffic and blocked post-tornado Atlanta streets to find a hip-hop fan’s oasis. I don’t want to sound too romantic, but there was some love in air. Love for the music, love of the culture, and in some cases just love of the hustle. Veteran MCs rubbed shoulders with fans and the up-and-coming in a real down-to-earth manner. I made it in late so I missed a lot of performances. Luckily, I caught The Juice Crew reunion and was instantly transported back to 7th grade. Man…I forgot that Roxanne Shante had so much swagger and Marley Marl’s catalog was so thick. Biz Markie turned it out also with proven old-school party rocking skills and comedic timing. Craig G brought out Killer Mike and Bonecrusher for some ATL flavor. Some members of De La Soul and Jurassic 5 were in the audience. Posdnuos was to my left for the whole show. There’s no telling what Day 3 will bring… If you’re anywhere near Atlanta this is the place to be.
