Despite being just 18-years-old, Tansta is making grown-up noise
URB: Where does mixtape art stand at the end of 2007?
TAN$TA: Mixtape art is standing strong in 07 and its only getting stronger. Im happy people are taking notice at the mixtape artwork because now it plays a big role in the game. If you have a hot mixtape you must have a hot cover to go along with it or else the package is not complete.
URB: What inspires your creations?
TAN$TA: My inspiration comes from within the rolled philly, sometimesor the title of a mixtape. It all depends on the resources you have or are given.
URB: Do you have a visual trademark?
TAN$TA: I would definitely say I have a visual trademark; four out of five people who know my work will be able to distinguish a cover they have never seen as my work.
When going legitimate means going corporate
URB: Where does mixtape art stand at the end of 2007?
PNBJ: Personally, I think it’s a mess. It’s a product of the market, since anyone can download MP3s and burn CDs, same goes for the art programs and the ability to promote yourself. And 90% of these DJs only care about the bottom line, and they want to pay peanutsso they have bad art from bad artists.
URB: Who is your favorite rapper to depict? Why?
PNBJ: Any of the Miami guys: Pitbull, Rick Ross, Flo-rida. I just think Miami is such a beautiful city and is a work of art by itself; so it makes the most incredible backdrop for this medium, plus you can go with a lot of different looksday, night, sun, moonit all looks great.
