Independence. Its something many people and companies in the corporate world either don’t have, or don’t value. More often than not, individuals cater to some external force, such as trends or corporations. On the other hand, there are those rare occasions when a person or company decides to go in their own direction, ignoring the security of the marketplace in favor of following a road less traveled. The Hay Fam Show, hosted and co-produced by Jon Phenom, is a new documentary series that highlights the work of these rare innovators who have been successful through passionate adherence to their own convictions. This past Friday, Jon Phenom premiered the debut episode at the Evil Monito Studio in Hollywood, which featured profiles of independent stylist Josh Madden, Evil Monito Founder Rickey Kim, Cre8tive Recreation Co-Founder/Designer Rich One, and URB Founder/President Raymond Roker.
Motivated by his own independent spirit, Jon Phenom began work on this series because of his realization that certain people within the music and fashion industries have not received the recognition or attention they undoubtedly deserve. So, he took it upon himself to use the unlimited opportunities afforded by what he describes as “viral media,” to put together this series profiling the leaders and trendsetters of urban culture who otherwise might not be as well known. With the help of Mr. Kim, his brother and co-producer Alex, and his talented cinematographer Dyno, ‘The Hay Fam Show’ is already receiving industry attention. The full website will be launched in early Feb, and will include information about the show and future episodes.
