For all you “Beetlebum” and “Parklife” fanatics (me included) Blur just announced a reunion gig in Londons Hyde Park in the summer of 2009. It will be nine years since the band last played together.

“It just felt it was right again”, “It some how feels like there’s something for us to do again, we’re not completely useless or pointless, we’ve got a reason to exist.” said Damon Albarn.

What have the guys been up to all this time?

Damon Albarn (lead), 40, started Gorillaz a collaboration between him and cartoonist Jamie Hewlett. The two have also recently embarcked on Monkey: Journey to the West (an opera) for more info check this months URB for a feature on Albarn and Hewlett.

Graham Coxon (guitarist), 39, developed his solo career. Alex James, 40, became a writer and makes cheese (thats real cheese the kind you eat) on his farm in Oxfordshire.

Dave Rowntree (drummer) 44, chose politics and was recently involved with the Labour Party as its candidate for the city of London and Westminster.

Tickets go on sale for the July 3 show. 9 am GMT Friday
