CES Day 1: Mother of All Wrap Ups

elementvesta CES Day 1: Mother of All Wrap Ups

Technically speaking, Darlene Roker is the proud mother of URB publisher/founder Raymond Roker, but in reality, she’s all our mothers. That is, if your moms interviewed Ice T and photographed Amoeba Records for a national magazine. This week, we sent her to Vegas for the annual nerdathon known as CES. She just sent us her favorite gear from the first day, listed here, in no particular order:

**TELEFLIP/flipMail: Converts email into text messages. Free service, where you don’t have to use a “smart phone” to get email. You set it up on the web, decide which email addresses you’ll accept from, and whether you’ll receive truncated messages (first 160 characters) or the entire email broken up into 160 ch bites.

**Targus SonicPak: silver backpack with enclosed and detachable speaker panel. Shipping and of Q1, $99. NXT speakers, works with iPod or other MP3 players through their headphone jacks. Good for dorm rooms, small apts. where you don’t have other speaker system, or on the go, at beach, etc.

**Vestalife/LADYBUG speakers: Innovations Award CES 2008 for design. (I’m big on this one!) Vestalife partnered with Elements skateboards on this one. Unit is round in shape with “wings” that open up to become speakers. Good sound – DC power or batteries. Has iPod dock or aux in for iPod Shuffle. Shipping mid Feb. Built in sub woofer, digital amp. (Pictured above)
**i2i/Aerielle – Digital Music Broadcaster: Shipping end of Mar. SRP $129.95 2 pk, $69.95 single receiver. Connects wirelessly via BT to send audio signal to other listeners. Compatible with all MP3 players, also can be used with portable DVD players, etc, to share audio.
More to come tomorrow…
