Technically speaking, Darlene Roker is the proud mother of URB publisher/founder Raymond Roker, but in reality, she’s all our mothers. That is, if your moms interviewed Ice T and photographed Amoeba Records for a national magazine. This week, we sent her to Vegas for the annual nerdathon known as CES. **TELEFLIP/flipMail: Converts email into text messages. Free service, where you don’t have to use a “smart phone” to get email. You set it up on the web, decide which email addresses you’ll accept from, and whether you’ll receive truncated messages (first 160 characters) or the entire email broken up into 160 ch bites.
**Targus SonicPak: silver backpack with enclosed and detachable speaker panel. Shipping and of Q1, $99. NXT speakers, works with iPod or other MP3 players through their headphone jacks. Good for dorm rooms, small apts. where you don’t have other speaker system, or on the go, at beach, etc.
